Position Title: Event Manager, Events Department of Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce
Reports to: Vice President of Events & Strategic Initiatives
Scope: Manage and revitalize events by developing event planning strategies to increase awareness and attendance, in tandem with other Chamber event managers as directed and as required to successfully implement the Chamber’s strategic plan.
Overall purpose of position:
- Management of Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival events, with primary responsibility for the Fashion Show Luncheon and the Class of 2025 Unscripted & Tailgate.
- Management of other Canton Regional Chamber of Commercebusiness/community events. Primary responsibility for: spring Golf Outing; Chamber Cup golf outing; fall Clay Shooting and Annual Meeting/Business Excellence Awards.
- Periodically work in collaboration with other Events Department staff in the planning and production of other events, including both Enshrinement Festival and non-Enshrinement Festival events.
- Assist with other events department tasks as needed.
Duties:
- Plan events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives, as well as coordinate all event operations.
- Research suggestions to enhance the event’s success.
- Prepare budgets and ensure adherence to budget in both expenses and income.
- Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers.
- Oversee booking personnel for events (entertainment, etc.).
- Assist in promotional activities for the event as needed.
- Coordinate all support individuals (volunteers, caterers, venue staff, etc.).
- Ensure the event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur.
- Analyze the event’s success and prepare wrap-up reports.
- Work with the Sponsorship Department to ensure that sponsorship benefits for events are correctly activated and fulfilled.
- Work closely with volunteer committees for each event and recruit new volunteers.
- Assume full responsibility for meeting coordination and facilitation, including agenda contents and minutes.
- Willingness to partner with Canton Regional Chamber members to provide products and services needed to put on events.
- Work with the Marketing Department to coordinate the preparation of programs, tickets, ads, scripts, and other promotional materials where applicable.
- Operate within the formal and informal goals, standards, policies, and procedures of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, as well as those specific to the Enshrinement Festival department, and those associated with our partnership with the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Qualifications: Specific knowledge, training or skills required to perform the duties of this position, including specific concepts, courses, training programs or required certifications:
- Experience in special event planning preferred but not required
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong work ethic with ability to be part of a team concept yet also be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
- In-depth interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to relate to all types of people both internally and externally.
- Extreme attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

- Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and a good driving record.

Position: Marketing Specialist
Reports to: Vice President of Marketing & Membership Strategy
Overview:
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing marketing campaigns and initiatives to support the Chamber's member engagement, event promotion and overall brand objectives. This role executes the Chamber’s marketing strategy, managing social media, email marketing, advertising and website support.
Duties:
1. Content Creation
- Create high-quality and engaging content (including text, images and videos) to support marketing efforts.
- Develop content with an emphasis on storytelling, maintaining consistency in messaging and branding across all platforms.
- Contribute to the creation and distribution of the Chamber’s ACTION newsletter
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and insights for content creation and promotion.
2. Social Media Management
- Oversee the Chamber’s social media accounts (currently Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn), including the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival and any other event-specific accounts.
- Work with ystark and Leadership Stark County to ensure brand consistency, guide strategy and provide social media assistance, as needed.
3. Member Engagement
- Cultivate and encourage member participation through social media and other digital platforms, adding value to members' experiences.
- Identify opportunities to showcase member stories and successes, as well as add value to members across Chamber properties.
4. Digital Campaigns
- Execute marketing campaigns to support the Chamber’s marketing strategy, including social media, email, website and other advertising to achieve brand awareness, event participation, member engagement and budget goals.
- Monitor campaign performance and make data-driven adjustments to optimize outcomes.
5. Email Marketing
- Assist in the content creation, segmenting and management of the Chamber’s email marketing to better reach and cultivate the right audience for events, news and other communication.
- Implement strategies to grow the Chamber's email subscriber list.
- Monitor email performance metrics and refine strategies accordingly.
6. Analytics and Reporting
- Regularly track and analyze key performance metrics for the Chamber’s social media, website and email.
- Prepare reports that highlight successes, challenges and make recommendations for improvement.
7. Trends and Best Practices
- Continuously research and stay informed about the latest trends, technologies and best practices in marketing and Chamber memberships.
- Propose innovative ideas to improve the Chamber's marketing strategy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in marketing, digital media, social media management, or related roles. Strong recent college graduates considered.
- Familiarity with digital marketing and website tools (such as social media schedulers, content management systems, email software).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

MEMBERSHIP SPECIALIST
The Membership Specialist works as part of the Marketing and Membership team to provide support to members and promote the Chamber’s value. This role helps streamline the current member’s journey from both a marketing and a sales perspective with the goal of a more satisfied, informed and engaged member. The Member Experience Coordinator should get to know our members and their Chamber goals to help provide a good experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Membership event and committee management
- Lead planning and coordination for QuickConnect, NETWORK, Business After Hours, Business Expo, Tip Clubs, Ambassador meetings
- Assist with budget management for membership events.
- Member engagement
- Build relationships by actively engaging with Chamber members to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure they are getting value from their membership.
- Assist in growing the Chamber’s email subscriber list.
- Assist with Chamber surveys and feedback loops to collect insights and make data-driven decisions to improve member services.
- Membership Communication
- Keep members informed about chamber news, updates and opportunities through regular communication channels, including email, social media and website updates.
- Assist with marketing automation to best reach members at all stages of their membership, including building out content and automation paths.
- Membership Onboarding and First-Year Success
- Guide new members through the onboarding process, explaining the benefits and services available to them and helping them get acquainted with the chamber's offerings. Work closely with members and be a point of contact for their questions.
- Work with marketing team to post welcomes and renewals to Chamber social media.
- Continue to implement New Member Success Plans, working with new Chamber members on how to use and how to improve the Chamber’s ability to support.
- Membership Renewals
- Coordinate membership renewal processes by communicating with existing members, sending reminders, and assisting with any questions or concerns.
- Develop retention initiatives to identify at-risk members and proactively address their needs.
- Member Directory Management
- Coordinate Annual Member Directory.
- Maintain accurate membership records and databases, ensuring that member information is up to date and easily accessible.
- Member Feedback Collection
- Serve as a liaison between members and the Chamber, collecting feedback and insights that help shape the chamber's services and offerings.
- Resolve issues promptly and elevate concerns when needed.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze membership data, engagement metrics and event participation to track the effectiveness of marketing strategies and membership initiatives, sharing reports with Chamber leadership.
- Have a strong understanding of the Chamber’s CRM (GrowthZone) and make recommendations for improving use, working toward utilizing it better to meet Chamber needs.
- Marketing Assistance
- Promote Chamber events, workshops, seminars and networking opportunities through face-to-face interaction and social media.
